Last week saw the bringing together of industries and students who have made the National Cyber Security Centre's Cyber Schools Hub initiative what it is today. It was a great evening and (drum roll please..!), we are so excited and thrilled to have not only WON the Micro Enterprise Champion Award but also be recognised with partner status! This is a huge achievement for the whole Cygenta team.
We have been avid supporters of the National Cyber Security Centre's Cyber Schools Hub initiative since its inception nearly 2 years ago (hopefully you all follow some of the amazing things we get up too!). During those two years the initiative has seen incredible growth and we are really proud to be shaping its future right from the core.
For the last 8 months, our socio-technical engagement manager Madeline has played an integral role in modelling the industry engagement opportunities for young people. In the last year alone, the schools hub has seen a 3 fold increase in the number of companies supporting! It has been wonderful to work alongside a group of likeminded global and local industries to shape the future of the next generation. We’re delighted that the initiative has been such a huge success that it will now be trialled under the new CyberFirst Schools Standard in Gloucestershire and South Wales, with national hopes on the horizon!
It has been a total pleasure to work with thousands of children involved in the Cyber Schools Hub programme and to see the impact that our combined work has already had on their lives. We have seen students grow in confidence in all areas of their lives, not just in their cyber security skills. Over the last year we have supported the first EmPowerCyber event which saw 800 girls attend, multiple Cyber Days, given live stream talks, and spoken at the CISO CTO CEO event and Cyber Clubs.
Both Jess and FC were away in San Francisco during the awards ceremony, as Jess was giving a keynote at RSA (you can watch the video of her keynote here!). So Dave and Madeline collected the award on behalf of our whole team. We are even more enthused to continue to inspire the next generation and would encourage any other industry thinking of supporting, to do so.
A final thank you to the NCSC for paving the way for such a fantastic initiative to take place and to all of the industries who altruistically work together to make sure the future of our industry is bursting with talent. A final thank you to all of the students who take every opportunity that presents itself: you’re going places and we're very happy if we can help you on your way!
